Last Minute Bean Soup in a Jar Gift...

Okay so this is a great idea for a last minute gift...maybe you forgot about someone when you were finishing up your christmas shopping or you just want to try to make a homemade present for someone this year, this is also a great way to let the kids help..

So what I did was filled the jar with the ingredients, I used a recyled spaghetti sauce jar, you can use a mason jar or whatever you have, then I cut a circle (a little bigger than the lid) out of christmas fabric and hot glued it to the lid. Then I tied some christmas ribbon on it and added a tag, it's that simple. I didn't spend a cent making this. I save everything so i had jars and fabric scraps and ribbon lying around my craft room. You can get even more creative, and add a label made with scrapbooking paper, just hot glue it to the jar... Have Fun!!

Bean Soup Mix in a Jar

1 cube bouillon
1 Tbls of italian seasoning
1/4 cup dried minced onion
1/2 cup dried great north beans
1/2 cup uncooked macaroni
1/4 cup barley
1/2 cup dry lentils
1/3 cup long-grain white rice

Use a funnel to fill the jars with the ingredients. Layer ingredients in the jar. Layer the noodles last so you can remove and cook later.

The tag should say:

Bean Soup

Remove pasta from top of jar and reserve.
Add the rest of the jar contents to the kettle with 12 cups water.
Bring to a boil and simmer 45 minutes.

Add pasta and simmer 15 minutes more.

So this is the Blood baby...this kid is so cute!!

Poor Mans Trail Mix

Any moms out there with a considerable amout of plain wic cereal taking up room on top of your fridge or in your pantry...At times cant get picky eaters to get rid of it for you?  Well at my house we just try to kick it up a notch by adding other yummy stuff and making it a whole new treat:

Try adding raisins or craisins and choc chips, peanuts, pretzels, or even goldfish crackers, or whatever you have lying around that your kids like...it may sound crazy but kids love the different colors, textures and flavors. Booker uses his pretzel sticks as chop sticks to pick up the cereal:] ... Try making a big batch and put into individual baggies or cantainers and put in a drawer or pantry for anytime or to grab on the go..Enjoy.

Holiday Thumprint Cookies

Okay so last night my family got together to make christmas cookies, we all picked our favorite kind, Tanya made peanut butter cookies with hershey kisses, Rylee made sugar cookies, Cody made oatmeal chocolate chip, my dad tried his moms favorite christmas cookie recipe for polish angel wings and i chose this recipe, i have made these cookies before but i tried something a little different last year i melted white chocolate chips with butter and filled the tip of a sandwich bag then i cut a tiny hole and I drizzeled it criss cross over the cookie and sprinkled with red and green sprinkles.. just idea to make it a little more festive...

Raspberry Thumprint Cookies

1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup butter, softened*
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 large eggs yolk
1 cup all-pupose flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 large egg white
1 cup finely chopped nuts, optional
About 6 Tablespoons jelly or jam

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Beat brown sugar, shortening, butter, vanilla and egg yolk in medium bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in flour and salt.

Shape dough into 1 inch balls. Beat egg white slightly with fork. Dip each ball, roll in nuts. Place about one inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press thumb in center of each cookie to make indentation, but do not press all the way to the cookie sheet.

Bake about 10 minutes or until light brown. Quickly remake indentations with end of wooden spoon if necessary. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Fill each thumbprint with 1/2 measuring teaspoon of jelly.
